Steering committee member Isabel Chase leaves for Haiti today, She is traveling with 60 people, largely from the Spring Valley, NY area, which includes medical professionals who will bring medical care to the region. Isabel will be meeting the container of donated goods (1200 boxes) sent to Jacmel, and helping ensure its delivery through customs to its destination in Jacmel. She plans to help distribute the food and clothes and get a bird’s eye view and assessment of the needs of those we are supporting. Mrs. Chase will return to Ridgefield on April 6th.

The Kids Care Club of Ridgebury Elementary School in Ridgefield, CT has completed their February Hope for Haiti: Have a Heart fundraiser, raising $700 for Ridgefield Responds: Hope for Jacmel, Haiti. In the Have a Heart program, children made $1 donations and received a heart sticker from their teacher. The children were encouraged to do chores at home to earn their $1 which was then donated. The children then placed their sticker on large heart posters near the cafeteria. The proceeds, along with the posters full of heart filled stickers, will be sent to Jacmel. Thank you to all the children, teachers and parents who made this wonderful, love-filled fundraiser possible.
The last weekend in February proved fruitful for Ridgefield Responds and Jacmel as the community stepped up by purchasing t-shirts featuring the beautiful Ridgefield Responds logo. Thank you to all who shopped for the cause! $1700 will provide 3400 meals over the coming weeks.
